The top location in Auckland!
Whenuapai is in Waitakere City, near Herald Island, Hobsonville, Greenhithe, West Harbour, Westgate, Massey, Royal Heights, Kumeu, Huapai. Auckland is 16 minutes away. The Upper Harbour Bridge is at 3 minutes, Albany 5.
Whenuapai is a thriving suburb of West Auckland, located in Waitakere City. Many new houses have been built in recent years in neighbouring West Harbour and Westgate. Whenuapai is much closer and more easily accessible from Auckland city than the suburbs of Manukau or Albany, has all the conveniences of modern life, yet enjoys a quiet lifestyle. The neighbouring suburbs of Herald Island, Hobsonville, Massey and the vineyards of Kumeu and Huapai make the area very attractive indeed.
A short walk to the closest dairy will allow you to meet some horses and maybe to spot some herons, kingfishers, tuis or bellbirds.
A few years ago, the Hobsonville helicopter base has closed down, and the area now enjoys a peaceful expansion. The neighbouring Air Force Base is scheduled for closure in a few years and the few planes still flying in the area are more of an attraction than a nuisance. A motorway connecting SH1 (Albany) to SH16 (Westgate) is currently being built and will bring Whenuapai even closer to Northland, Waikato and the rest of New Zealand. The motorway is located close enough to be extremely practical, yet not close enough for any nuisance to reach your new home.
